1+1 Ukraine is Set to Show the Most Successful Ukrainian Animated Film Ever, MAVKA. THE FOREST SONG, Now Released in 148 Countries

On January 1, at 8 p.m., the TV channel 1+1 Ukraine will host the nationwide TV premiere of the highest-grossing Ukrainian animated film ever, MAVKA. THE FOREST SONG, created by Animagrad studio, part of the FILM.UA Group.

MAVKA broke all the national records in Ukraine, becoming the highest-grossing Ukrainian film ever and the best animation release ever (topping all the major studio releases). As of now, the animated feature is the #3 highest-grossing release at the Ukrainian box office ever, just only after SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME and AVATAR: THE WAY WATER.

The project is based on the drama 'The Forest Song' by Lesya Ukrainka, as well as on the images of Slavic mythology. Fun fact: the animated film MAVKA. THE FOREST SONG became one of the most-Googled films in 2023.

MAVKA. THE FOREST SONG is the first Ukrainian animated feature film to be released worldwide on such a large scale: the film was shown on big screens in 148 countries. France led in admissions, surpassing 550,000, followed closely by Poland with over 480,000 admissions, and so on down the list. The total worldwide box office has reached over $20 million. The movie was dubbed into 32 languages, and the IP has grown into a vast UNIVERSE OF MAVKA with a wide range of licensing and consumer product deals.

An array of top Ukrainian stars lent their voices to the characters of the animated film MAVKA. THE FOREST SONG. Mavka is voiced by tender Natalka Denisenko, a stage, movie, and dubbing actress.

Prima ballerina of the National Opera and People's Artist of Ukraine Kateryna Kukhar shared her plastics, ballet tenue, facial expressions, and gestures with the Forest Guardian. Singer Khrystyna Soloviy sang two of Mavka’s songs. It is an unprecedented case of creative collaboration in which three celebrities teamed up to make the animated character come to life. Other characters were voiced by Kateryna Osadcha, Nina Matviienko, Nazar Zadniprovskyi, Yuliia Sanina, Oleh Skrypka, Oleh Fahot Mykhailiuta, members of the ethno band DakhaBrakha, Serhii Prytula, and Artem Pivovarov.
